Just a day after seeing the launching of the Acura Type S Concept, new spy shots validate that the next-gen Acura TLX has a strong resemblance to it. This test mule is under heavy camouflage. However, the similarity is difficult to miss. There’s even a view of the cabin in the gallery.
2021 Acura TLX Spy Shots
We’re just a few days removed from Acura having revealed its Type S Concept and low and behold, and our spy photographers have spotted another 2021 TLX model, the Concept’s real-world doppelganger.
While the car is still camouflaged, the layers aren’t as thick as previously, enabling us to evaluate the model’s overall shape, plus some front and rear fascia details. Like the Type S Concept, the 2021 TLX seems to boast a Diamond Pentagon grille, in addition to similar Jewel Eye LED headlights.
Does it look like the Type S Concept?
It clearly won’t be similar, but features such as the dynamic roofing line, muscular rear fenders, aggressive-looking front fascia and door-mounted wing mirrors seem present on this prototype. What’s missing out on is the creased trunk lid style and the quad-pipe sports exhaust system. However, those things may make it onto the production-ready Type S variation of the upcoming TLX.

We also don’t expect the taillight graphics to be quite as futuristic as the Concept’s. However the light cluster pattern appears to be formed likewise in both instances– sort of like a stretch Radical mathematics symbol.
2021 Acura TLX Interior
Sadly, we don’t get to see inside this model, and the dashboard appears to be covered up anyhow. Still, among the photos does reveal that the guiding wheel features a three-spoke style, with what appears to be a metal bottom part, instead of the plastic design found on the existing car.
2021 Acura TLX Engine
As for its engine range, we anticipate seeing inline-4 and V6 units, with a turbocharged version of the latter potentially meant for the TLX Type S flagship.
2021 Acura TLX Debut
Acura will most likely reveal the next-gen 2021 TLX at some point next year.
